Abstract
It is shown that for electrons passing through a target with a periodic structure, the resulting bremsstrahlung component polarized parallel to the electron velocity can be enhanced by several orders of magnitude over that from a uniform target of comparable thickness. The enhanced radiation does not have a flat spectrum but exhibits a narrow peak at a frequency that depends on the observation angle, electron velocity, and period of the target structure.
